Asianbangla, Dhaka : Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of entering into discussion with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party if it didn’t seek apology and give up celebrating August 15 as the ‘fake birthday’ of the party’s chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The road transport and bridges minister also lambasted Khaleda for celebrating birthday on the National Mourning Day and anniversary of death of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also said that BNP’s arrogance closed the door on holding any dialogue with them.
BNP awarded the killers of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and its founder Ziaur Rahman placed them in different foreign offices and adopted Indemnity Act to give immunity to the killers from being persecuted, Quader said.
Quader said these while addressing a discussion organised by Bangabandhu Samaj Kalyan Parishad marking National Mourning Day, which falls on August 15, at the Teachers-Students’ Center of Dhaka University. The programme was also attended by former Chhatra League president Bahlul Majnun Chunnu, Awami League organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, newly selected BCL central president Rezanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani, DU branch president Sanjit Chandra Das and secretary Saddam Hossain, among others.
