Asianbangla Desk : A total of 62 percent school-going students across the country are addicted to pornography, revealed a study on Sunday.
Development organisation Centre for Men and Masculinities Studies (CMMS) conducted the study in association with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The study claimed 87 percent of school-going students across the country have their own mobile phones.
The organisation unveiled the study report at a discussion meeting styled “Policy Dialogue on Gender-based violence in Bangladesh” at the Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu attended the programme as the chief guest while CMMS Chairman Syed Mohammad Shaikh Imtiaz presided over it.
The report showed that 50.75 percent of the boys search pornography on the internet and 63.45 percent watch porn for the first time in mobile phones with friends.
Minister Hasanul Haq Inu stressed the need of creating awareness among the children to resist deterioration of social and moral values.
Among others, lawmaker Nahim Razzaq, Bangladesh Economic Association President Prof Abul Barkat, UNDP Chief Technical Advisor Sharmeela Rasool, were present on the occasion.
