Hafizur Rahman and Dipto SarkarTwo more victims, Dipto Sarkar and Hafizur Rahman, of Mymensingh blast succumbed to their injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday, raising the death toll in the incident to four.
Dipto and Hafizur also were students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).
Dipto Sarkar, 22, from Magura, who was undergoing treatment at the burn unit of DMCH, succumbed to his injuries around 9:30am while Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, 24, from Naogaon died around 1:00am, DMCH police camp sub-inspector Bachchu Mia told Prothom Alo.
Earlier Shahin, a final year student of KUET, succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit of the hospital on Wednesday night.
On 25 March, Md Towhidul Islam, 23, a final year student of KUET, was killed and three others sustained burn injuries in an explosion at a six-storey building in Masterbari area of Bhaluka upazila in Mymensingh.
The injured were sent to the DMCH burn unit.
Square Fashion Ltd. assistant manager Rafiqul Islam said all the four victims joined their factory as intern engineers on 11 March. They used to live at a rented house near the factory.
“Dipto, Towhid and Shahin were among the brightest in our class,” said their classmate Tushar Mahmud.
A case was filed against the building owner Abdur Razzak in this connection.
