Major General Md Shafeenul Islam has been made new Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday, reports the UNB. Major General Md Shafeenul Islam, who was serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, replaced Major General Abul Hossain as the chief of the paramilitary force. An inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police was killed in a reported gunfight with criminals at Middle Pirerbagh in the capital’s Mirpur area on early Tuesday, reports news agency UNB. The deceased is Md Jalaluddin, inspector of Detective Branch of police. The BNP has appointed a British lawyer to provide legal assistance to party chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is in jail in a graft case. A Bangladesh Biman flight made an emrgency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka Tuesday afternoon. The Dash-8 airliner took off for Syedpur around 12 noon but had to make the emrgency landing 15 minutes later due to technical glitches, a number of sources at the airport said.
